Beowulf (1998) IMDB page here The animation is somewhat odd at times, especially the fight scenes. I am not sure why it is intimated at the beginning that the gold hord was brought to earth by aliens. It was pointless and spoiled the production. In other respects it is good. |

Beowulf & Grendel (2005) IMDB page here With a lower budget than the 2007 movie, this version achieves higher production values. The movie gets around the requirement for heavy duty special effects by making Grendel a troll, making the monster less fantastic and more believable. The plot line is fleshed out to provide background to the conflict but this does not detract from the story. Sadly the film stops after Grendel and Grendel's mother. This version deserves being completed with a sequel. |
